LILLIAN ALBAZI TRIO
Australian Jazz Vocalist Lillian Albazi is known for her natural charm and versatile vocals. She is a singer, arranger and fierce advocate for her local music scene. Lillian first rose to prominence when she appeared at just twenty-two years old with her quintet at the 2016 Melbourne International Jazz Festival. Since then, Lillian has been on the move around Australia playing most recently at the Melbourne Recital Centre with musician, educator and composer Tony Gould.
Lillian and her band are most notably recognised for performing modern arrangements of seminal standards from The Great American/Australian Songbook celebrating the pioneers who laid down the foundations for jazz today. Presenting their music in a modern framework, Lillian believes this reflects ‘the current climate of the 21st century jazz scene which at its roots is ever-changing, evolving and adapting’.
Lillian has worked with and studied under many celebrated Australian and International jazz musicians throughout her career. From this work she has gained the respect and recognition of her colleagues and contemporaries making her one of Australia’s most coveted and in demand young women of jazz.
